My Vision as an MK (Missionary Kid)
 
Puberty. A word filled with awkwardness, unwanted pimples, and a lot of confusion. As I began to transition from a carefree child to a teenager, I was hit with the realization: I did not belong. Raised as a child of missionaries in India, I embraced the Indian culture and its people. However, in the eyes of many Indians, my looks and my family background meant that I would never truly be considered as one of them. On the other hand, in Korea, although I looked like them and spoke their language, my worldview and experiences separated me from the “normal” kids. Normal. I desperately wanted to be normal: to live and grow up in a small town, to speak only one language, and have my grandparents living a couple miles from us. Little did I realize that it was my “abnormal” experiences as a missionary kid that propelled me into God’s calling for my life...
